Kansas City University of Medicine is opening a new campus in Joplin, MO with students arriving July, 2017. The new campus is searcing for a Chair of Internal Medicine. This role is a department leader who will oversee the specialty and internal medicine clinical faculty. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivers a quality academic program, including curriculum development and evaluation
Oversees program faculty and staff recruitment, hiring, development, and retention
Leads a collaborative process with the faculty and its committees, executing decisions effectively and ensuring communication of critical developments timely and effectively
Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
The successful candidate must be a graduate of a college accredited by COCA or LCME, have completed an IM residency and be certified by the AOBIM or ABIM.
Eligibility for Missouri license required.
Interest in teaching medical students at all levels is essential; osteopathic residency training preferred, but not required
All candidates will have demonstrated an understanding of diversity issues, clinical expertise in providing services to diverse and under-served populations and a commitment to productive scholarship
Candidates also should have demonstrated competency in training students to work with multicultural and/or international populations
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
